5.09 kilos of marijuana seized in Ngaphe
Yangon,
10 July – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and
Magway Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on information, searched a house that
belongs to U Boe Ywe, in Padan village, Ngaphe Township, at 4 pm on 5 November
2001 and nabbed Maung Maung, Maung Win and Hla Win together with 5.09 kilos of
marijuana. Ngaphe Police Station filed Maung Maung, 35, son of U Lon of
Shauktaung village, Ngaphe Township, Maung Win, 40, son of U Tin Oak and Hla
Win, 34, son of U Ohn of Padan village under Sections 15/19 (A)/ 20 (A)/21 of
the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law. On 21 May 2002, Minbu
District Court sentenced Maung Maung, Maung Win and Hla Win to 15 years’each
under Section 19 (A) and 20 years’ each under Section 20 (A) of the Narcotic
Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law to serve separately.
