97 kgs of Ephedrine
powder seized in Chanayethazan Township

Sept – Members of local intelligence unit, acting on information, at Tharaphi
Street, Yanmyolon Ward, Chanayethazan Township, searched Htanlouda and seized 97
kgs of Ephedrine powder in three cartons on 29 March 2000. On further
investigation, Kamkyinkhoak, owner of the illicit drugs, was then arrested.
Mandalay No 3 Police Station filed Htanlouda, 39, son of U Belon, of Seinpan
Ward, Maha Aungmye Township, and. Kamkyinkhouk, 30, son of U Randal, of Maha
Myaing Ward 2, the same township, under the Section 15/16(B) /21 of Narcotic
Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law. The Mandalay District Court sentenced 10
years’ imprisonment on them under Section 16(B) of Narcotic Drugs and
Psychotropic Substances Law on 17 August 2000.
