Heroin, opium seized and opium refinery exposed in Laukkai

Township

Yangon, 1 Aug –

According to the information given by two duty-conscious people that heroin was

being produced to the east of Tachi Kanpa Village, Laukkai Township, a combined

team comprising the Tatmadaw members of the local battalion, the military

intelligence unit and the anti-drug squad, combed the area (map reference:

P-027409) near Tachi Kanpa Village.

The combined team arrested Kyin Lan, 27, of Tonphan Village,

Laukkai Township, together with two make-shift tents, seven paraphernalia used

in producing heroin, six five-gallon buckets containing 81 litres of acetic

anhydride, 2 litres of hydrochloric acid, 32 litres of ether and six buckets

containing 80 litres of phosphorous acid. Further investigation led to the

arrest of Lauk Wan, 28, who engaged in producing heroin, from the house of U Wan

Lauk Wu of Tachi Kanpa Village. On 28 July morning, the authorities combed the

area (map reference: P-855453) at the junction of Khoak Htan Village.

They stopped and searched a Hilux with no number plate

heading from Pasinkyaw Village for Border Post No 137. The two persons in the

car ran away, and ten 360-gram plastic bags containing about 3.61 kilograms of

heroin were seized. On 30 July afternoon, the combined team also searched a

house in Yanshin Village (P-843526), and arrested house owner Daw Lauk Hwa

together with about 13 kilograms of morphine. Further investigation led to the

arrest of owner of drug Aik Hlyan of Ward-2, Laukkai.

The combined team also seized about 1.61 kilograms of opium

in an old hut at the foot of the hill. On 31 July morning, the combined team

searched a hut in the field (P-885427) near Khoak Htan Village and seized two

packages of raw opium weighing about 2.42 kilograms. In the afternoon, the

combined team searched the house of U Shauk To, 45, son of U Li Shauk Lin, in

Takyuchin Village and seized nine pyis of opium seeds, two hand grenades, two

M-46 hand grenades, 38 rounds of M-14 and 37 rounds of M-22. From July 28 to 31,

the combined team seized one opium refinery camp, various kinds of acid and

paraphernalia, 3.61 kilograms of heroin, 13 kilograms of morphine, about 4.03

kilograms of raw opium, nine pyis of opium seeds, one Hilux car, four hand

grenades and rounds of ammunition in Laukkai Township, Kokang Region, Special

Region No 1, Shan State (North).

Action is being taken according to the law by Myanmar Police

Force in connection with the seized chemicals, paraphernalia, opium seeds, arms

and ammunition.

Heroin seized in Kyukok (Panhsai)

2 Aug – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and

Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, stopped and searched two vans with

the number plates 8Ka/1003 driven by Marla, son of U La Yaung of Ward 8, Kyukok

(Panhsai), and 8Ka/1874 by Tan Gon (a) Mar Tan, son of U Zaw Maw of Nampatak

Village, Kyukok (Panhsai), at the Asia World Check Point in Kyukok (Panhsai),

Shan State (North) on 22 July. The authorities arrested them together with 82

blocks of heroin weighing 31.16 kilos. Action is being taken against them under

the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the police station

concerned.

Heroin seized in Monekoe

Yangon,

1 Aug – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and

Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, stopped and searched a jeep driven

by Ar San, son of U Kyaung Wone of Ward 6, Kyugok (Pangsai), near Sankha

Village, Ward 2, Monekoe, Shan State (North) on 22 July. The authorities

arrested altogether seven culprits Ar San and six persons aboard together with

11 plastic packages and 16 soap boxes of heroin weighing 3.638 kilos. Action is

being taken against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances

Law by the police station concerned.

Heroin seized in Monekoe

Yangon,

7 Aug – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and

Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, searched a van with number plates

Ba/7128 at Manjie check point in Monekoe, Shan State (North), on 28 July and

arrested a passenger under the name of Ma Ar Hsan, daughter of U Hsan Chan of

Wantein in Yunnan Province, China, together with 23 blocks of heroin weighing

0.223 kilo. Action is being taken against her under the Narcotic Drugs and

Psychotropic Substances Law by the police station concerned.

Heroin seized in Monekoe

8 Aug – A combined team comprising Tatmadaw men, members of the local

intelligence unit and Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, stopped and

searched a car with number plates (Tha/2745) at Manjel check point, and arrested

Ma Kyan San and Ma Kyan Yin, daughters of U Kyan Khan Yin, residing at No 37,

Ward (3), Monekoe Township, together with 4 heroin blocks weighing 1.35 kilos on

29 July. Action was taken against them by the police station concerned under

Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Phensedyl seized in Kale

Yangon,

9 Aug – A combined team comprising members of the local Intelligence Unit and

Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, searched the house of Daw Nyaung

Khant Dain, daughter of U Taung Za Kat of Monlai Village, Ward 11 in Kale

Township and seized 360 bottles of phensedyl, 36 litres in total, hidden in a

barn next to the house. Further investigation led to the arrest of the owner of

the phensedyl, Pao Hlyan Htan, son of U Htan Za Htan of Monlai Village, Ward 10

in Kale. Action is being taken against them under the Narcotic Drugs and

Psychotropic Substances Law by the police station concerned.

Raw opium and stimulant tablets seized in Muse

Yangon,

16 Aug – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and the

Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, searched Chan Sein, Yan Lauk Woo

and Ma Yan Le Zon of Yinkyan, China, who were going to leave for the

neighbouring country after entering the country illegally, at the border by the

Pyidaungsu Road in Manwein/Suamsaw Ward, Muse, Shan State (North), and arrested

them together with 9 kilos of raw opium and 185 stimulant tablets on 9 August.

Action is being taken against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic

Substances Law by the police station concerned.

Heroin seized in Bhamo

Yangon,

16 Aug – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and Bhamo

Special Anti-drug Squad, acting on a tip-off, searched pedestrian Law Kyan (a)

Kyan Lon, on his way from Mamywet Village to Mansi in Bhamo Township, and seized

four soap cases of heroin weighing 57.14 grams on 25 July. In connection with

the case, action is being taken against Law Kyan (a) Kyan Lon, 46, son of U Kyan

Kyin Yon of Sikyarhaw Village, Tarmoenye Village-tract, Kutkai Township, under

section 15/19(A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the

Bhamo police station.

Low grade opium and heroin seized

Yangon,

21 Aug – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and

Myitkyina Special Anti-Drug Squad on 21 July searched the house of Wanindosinwa,

No 214, Kinsa Ward, Tanai, and seized 506.23 grams of low grade opium hidden in

the glazed earthen jar. In connection with the case, action is being taken

against Wanindosinwa, 34, son of U Wanindolayaung, by Tanai Police Station under

Section 15/19 (A) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Similarly, a combined team comprising members of local

intelligence unit and Muse Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on a tip-off, stopped

and searched a van with number plates Tha/2745 en route from Mongkoe to Pansai

at Mongkoe toll-gate on 29 July and seized four blocks of heroin weighing 1.35

kilos from travellers Ma Kyan San and Ma Kyann Yan. Pansai Police Station filed

Ma Kyan San, 23, and Ma Kyann Yan, 22, daughters of U Kyan Par Ye, under Section

15/19 (A) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Heroin seized in Muse

Yangon,

21 Aug – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and

Myanmar Police Force on 10 August, acting on a tip-off, stopped and searched a

vehicle (Carina) with licence plates Ba/5999 near Namtaung Village, Muse

Township in Northern Shan State. The authorities interrogated two suspects,

Lifei of Panwaing Village, Paukshan District, Yunnan Province, China, and Ywan

Yi Chong of No 72, Rinhaw Street, Shakwan, Yunnan Province, who were on board

the car and the latter confessed that he swallowed the small blocks of heroin at

Lifei’s bidding. Fifteen heroine blocks weighing 0.15 kilo were confiscated

after he was sent to Muse People’s Hospital and the blocks were taken out. In

connection with the case, action was taken against them under the Narcotic Drugs

and Psychotorpic Substances Law by the police station concerned.

Marijuana seized in Lewe

Yangon,

22 Aug – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and local

battalion, combed through Thitkyein Village-tract in Lewe Township at 2 am on 30

July and searched two suspects Maung Thein and Tin Win on southern path and

seized 33.475 kilos of marijuana. Further investigation led to the seizure of

3.2656 kilos of marijuana in the house of Shwe Yin and Ma Khin Win Wah of

HaymanU Village. The Thawuthti Police Station is taking action against Maung

Thein, 37, son of U Pu of Ma Auk Village in Pyinmana, Tin Win, 46, son of U Tun

Shwe of HaymanU Village, Maung Myint, 34, son of U Shein, Shwe Yin, 46, son of U

Tun Yee and Ma Khin Win Wah, 33, daughter of U Tun Yee, under Section

15/16(C)/19(A)/21 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Raw opium seized in Kalaw

Yangon,

23 Aug – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligent unit and

local police force, acting on information, searched an air-con bus with number

plates 5/Kha 6669 on its way from Taunggyi to Mandalay at the toll-gate in Kalaw

on 31 July and seized 3 packages of raw opium weighing 12.2469 kilos from

passenger Ohn Shein. Action is being taken against Ohn Shein, 41, son of U San

Nyein, Nyaungphyu Sakhan Ward, Taunggyi, under Section 15/19 (A) of the Narcotic

Drugs and Psycho-tropic Substances Law.

62,620 stimulant tablets and drugs seized

25 Aug – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit, Mandalay

Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on a tip-off, on 2 July searched the house of

Aike Shwe Aung (a) Aike Lun of No 3/45, Nawarat Lane, between 40th and Gantgaw

Streets, Maha Myaing Ward-1, Maha Aungmyay Township and seized 62,620 stimulant

tablets, a bottle of anthranilic acid containing 0.5 kilo, a bottle of

pholcodine containing 0.5 litre, a bottle of phensedyl containing 30 mill litre,

0.5 kilo of paraphin wax and seven numbers of paraphernalia together with the

arrests of eight men Aike Shwe Aung, Maung Hte, Aike Shin, Maung Aye (a) Chein

Yon Chin, Bauk Kan, Kyi Win, Soe Phyu and Mar Yu Chi.

In connection with the case, action is being taken against

Lashio, Kyi Win (a) Chi Tin Shoke, 53, son of U Chi Mekyu of Mayga Giri Ward,

Aungmyethazan Township and Soe Phyu (a) Ar Phyin, 29, son of U Hla Tha of,

Ward-5, Lashio, by No 9 Police Station, Mandalay, under section 15/19 (A)/21 of

Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

10 grams of heroine seized in Mansi

Yangon,

26 Aug – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and

Bhamo Special Anti-drug Squad, acting on information, intercepted a van with

number plates KaKa/1640 en route from Namhkam to Bhamo, and seized 10 grams of

heroin from Daw Le Ma Tein, 46, daughter of U Lel Hla of Ward-5, Monkoe. In

connection with the case, action is being taken against her under Section

15/19(A) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Stimulant tablets and raw opium seized in Shan State

Yangon, 28 Aug –

A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and Lashio

Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on information, searched the house of Le Pein

Aein (a) Lauk Aein of Zaythit Street, Ward 2, Laukkai, on 20 June, and

altogether 35,800 stimulant tablets were seized. Action is being taken against

Le Pein Aein (a) Lauk Aein, 25, son of U Le Te Phu, under Section 15/19(A) of

the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the Kunlong police

station.

Similarly, a combined team

comprising members of the local intelligence unit and Bhamo Special Anti-Drug

Squad, acting on a tip-off, searched a Hilux vehicle with number plates

1Ka/2870, en route from Namkhan to Bhamo, at Kaikhtate Check Point in Mansi on

30 June, and seized 1.6329 kilos of raw opium from the basket of passenger Ma

Kawt Phan. In connection with the case, action is being taken against Ma Kawt

Phan, 29, daughter of U Naw Maing of Mankan Village, Namkhan Township, under

Section 15/19(A) of the Narcotic Drugs and psychotropic Substances Law by Mansi

Police Station.

Heroin seized in Myitkyina

Yangon, 29 Aug –

A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and Myanmar

Police Force, acting on information, searched U Lamone’s Kachin Traditional

Restaurant at Tatkone North East Ward in Myitkyina on 18 August and arrested

narcotic drug trafficker, Nyunt Htay, son of U Aung Than of Kanthaya village,

Khin Oo Township, Sagaing Division together with 11 grams of heroin. In

connection with the case, action is being taken against him by police station

concerned under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Opium

seized in Myitkyina

Yangon, 29 Aug –

A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and Myitkyina

Special Anti-drug Squad, acting on a tip-off, stopped and searched a vehicle

with license plates Pa/3407 en route from Lonkin village to Tawmaw village in

Phakant Township on18 June this year. The authorities seized 146.7 grams of

opium from passenger Than Aung, 35, son of U Pyo of Ward-3,Tawmaw village.

Action was taken against him and his accomplice Ma Htu Yaw, 22, daughter of U

Moe Ba Yan of No-73, Ward-4, Lonkin village in Phakant Township under Section

15/19(A)/21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by Phakant

police station.

Heroin and marijuana seized

Yangon, 31 Aug –

A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and local

police force, acting on information, intercepted a motorcycle, driven by Wan

San, at Tarmoenye Check Point in Kutkai Township on 9 July and seized four kilos

of heroin.

Action is being taken against

Wan San, 20, son of U Wan Shauk Shin of Ward 4, Kutkai, under Section 15/19(A)

of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the Tarmoenye police

station. Similarly, a combined team comprising members of the local intelligence

unit and Yangon Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on a tip-off, searched the house

of Thaung Naing residing at Room No 303, Building 27, 11th Street, Yuzana

Housing Estate, Ward 94, Dagon Seikkan Township on 11 July, and seized a total

of 1.02 kilos of marijuana.

Action is being taken against

Thaung Naing, 32, son of U Tin Win, under Section 15/19(A) of the Narcotic Drugs

and Psychotropic Substances Law by Dagon Seikkan Police Station.
