35,963 stimulant tablets seized in Laukkai

Yangon, 25 June

– The authorities searched houses which are making illicit trafficking of drugs

and seized 163 stimulant tablets from the house of Lwitesien in Zarmani Myothit,

Laukkai, and 35,800 stimulant tablets from the house of Litephu, Myohaung Ward,

Laukkai, together with Liteaim, son of Litephu, after questioning Htan Minchumk

(a) Shikham, the main culprit in trafficking 500,000 stimulant tablets in Lonlin

township, Yunnan Province, China, in July 1997. He had been arrested in Shwehsin

Myothit in Laukkai on 10 June 2002. Action is being taken against the two drug

traffickers by the police station concerned under Narcotic Drugs and

Psychotropic Substances Law.
