Stimulant tablets seized in Namhsan


19 July – The Myawady District Court handed down a prison term on an illicit

drug possessor on 24 May this year. The combined team made up of members of

local intelligence unit and Myanmar Police Force, acting on a tip-off, made a

thorough body search on Aung Min, 43, son of U Tin Sein, of Bogyoke Street, Ward

4, Namhsan, who was on a bicycle on Kyundaw Kwetthit Street, Ward 5, Myawady,

and seized 570 stimulant tablets on 1 January 2002. The Myawady Police Station

took action against him under Section 15/19(A)/20 (A) (B) of Narcotic Drugs and

Psychotropic Substances Law. He was sentenced to 17 years’ imprisonment under

Section 19 (A) by the Myawady District Court.
