Phensedyl trafficked from Maesai to Tachilek seized

24 May – Security guards near Tachilek-Maesai friendship bridge, which had been
used as a border check point and has been closed since 22 May, arrested Aik Leik,
son of U Eik Kouk of Samsai Ward, Tachilek, while he was crossing Maesai creek
under the bridge together with two plastic bags containing 1.8 litres of
Phensedyl. He carried them for a Thai from Maesai, who asked to contact him by
phone on arrival at Tachilek and gave a Thai phone number and 50 Baht. Action is
being taken against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law
by the police station concerned.
