Heroin and raw opium seized
Yangon,
26 April – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit,
Myitkyina Special Anti-drug Squad and Pinbaw Police Station, acting on
information, on 25 March searched Thein Zaw Nge’s house in Nankhoin Village,
Mogaung Township, and seized 54.6 grams of heroin in four soap boxes.
Similarly, a
combined team, comprising members of local intelligence unit and Muse Special
Anti-drug Squad, acting on a tip-off, on 8 April searched Lu Chaung Win’s house
of Nasamon village, Manbyein village-tract in Kutkai Township and seized 12
packages of raw opium weighing 16.6 kilos.
Action is being
taken against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by
the police stations concerned.

Heroin blocks seized in Muse
Yangon,
24 April – A team made up of local intelligence unit and Muse Anti-Drug Squad,
acting on information, searched the house of Lin Yi Khaing (a) Maung Ai of
Kaungmulwe Ward in Muse on 27-3-2003 and seized nine blocks of heroin weighing
in 3.15 kilos. Further investigation led to the seizure of seven blocks of
heroin weighing in 2.11 kilos in the house of Sho Yon (a) Sho Yun of Swedaw
Ward, Muse.
Muse Police
Station is taking action against Lin Yi Khaing (a) Maung Ai, 37, son of U Shan
Kwun Chi, under Sections 15/19 (A)/ 20 (A)/ 21 of Narcotic Drugs and
Psychotropic Substances Law and Sho Yon (a) Sho Yun, 41, son of U Sho An Htein,
who is still at large, under Section 19(A).

11.9 kilos of heroin seized
Yangon,
22 April – Members of Special Region-2, Shan State (North), acting on a tip-off,
on 14 April stopped and searched a car driven by Kyan Lauk Paung, son of U
Shaung Sant of Haw Shauk Kyaing Village, Laukkai District on Nyinaung Bridge at
the entrance to Namtit and seized 34 packages of heroin weighing 11.9 kilos. On
20 April, he was handed over to Kunlong District Myanmar Police Force Station
and No 1 Police Station, Lashio, filed him under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Law.

Raw opium,
heroin seized in Kachin State
Yangon,
21 April—Daw Nyunt Sein, daughter of U Ba San, of Lebonlay Village, Mohnyin
Township, was arrested with 3.103 kilos of raw opium on No 47 Mandalay-Myitkyina
Up train at Indaw Station by members of the local intelligence unit, Special
Anti-Drug Squad and MPF on 1 March.
A similar seizure
was made in a separate incident in which the authorities concerned intercepted a
Hilux (Dha/3543) which was driven from Hlaingza to Myitkyina in front of Laja
Special Anti-Drug Office, and nabbed Ma Dwebu, daughter of U Gawlu Yan, of
Ward-5, Hlaingza Village, Momauk Township, together with 0.244 kilos of heroin
on 10 March. Further information led to the arrest of Ma Li Li Aung (a) Ma Mar
Taung, daughter of U Janmaw Sun, of Konlaw Village, Momauk Township.
Likewise,
members of local intelligence unit, Special Anti-Drug Squad and MPF, on
25March raided the house of Thein Zaw Nge, son of U San Ngwe, of Nankhwin
Village, Mogaung Township, and seized 54.06 gs of heroin. Action is being taken
against the four according to law.

Stimulant
tablets seized
Yangon,
19 April — A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit,
Muse Special Anti-drug Squad and local Police Force, acting on information, on
21 March searched Kyonteyan’s house of No 112, Ward 4, Monkoe and seized 330
stimulant tablets, 3 grams of heroin, 2 kilos of stimulant powder, 2 litres of
acetic anhydrite, 1.5 litres of sodium sulphate anhydrite and 600 kilos of
phenylacetic acid. The authorities also arrested Aung Myat together with
Kyuteyan, the host.
Action is
being taken against Kyonteyan, 38, son of Kyonyou Chaung and Aung Myat, 35, son
of U Marla of Ward 4, Monkoe under Section 15/16(B)/19(A)/21 of the Narcotic
Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by Monkoe Police Station.

Drug
traffickers arrested
Yangon,
11 April—Altogether five packets of raw opium weighing 5.88 kilos were seized
under glazed earthen jars and old feeding troughs for pigs near the house of U
Shi Gin Sai in Nanphetka Ward-1, Kutkai when a combined team comprising members
of local intelligence unit and Nanphetka Police Station of Kutkai Township
searched the house on 16 March.
A seizure of
seven blocks of heroin weighing 2.45 kilos was made in a separate incident when
a combined team consisting of members of local intelligence unit and Muse
Special Anti-Drug Squad intercepted a Peking Jeep without number plate near
Lonkham Village between Mongyu and Namtoung 105 miles of Muse on 26 March. The
car was driven by Taung Zay.
Action is being taken against the suspects according to law by the police
stations concerned.

Narcotic drugs
seized in Monkoe, Muse
Yangon,
7 April — A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit,
Special Anti-drug Squad and Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, on 21
March searched the house of Kyoneteton, son of U Kyone Luchaung of No 112,
Ward-4, Monkoe, and seized him together with 330 stimulant tablets, two kilos of
stimulant powder, three grams of heroin, 1.5 kilos of acetic hydride and 600
kilos of dehydration salt.
Similarly, on 26
March a combined team, acting on a tip-off, stopped a Peking Jeep without number
plates driven by Magon, son of U Makhun of Mankan Village, Monkoe Township, near
Lonkhan village in Muse Township and arrested Daungze, son of U Khaung Daung and
his accomplice Yanyonkyan (a) Likyan, son of U Likyi Haung, who were in the car.
Likewise, a
combined team, acting on information, searched the house of Linyi Khaing, son of
U Shan Kwanchi of Muton Ward, Muse, on 27 March and arrested him together with
nine blocks of heroin weighing 3.15 kilos. According to confession of Linyi
Khaing, the authorities searched the house of Shiyon (a) Shoyon in Sonsaw Ward,
Muse Township. But, the culprit managed to flee, and seven blocks of heroin
weighing 2.11 kilos were found from the bedroom of the house.
Action is being
taken against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by
police stations concerned.

Stimulant
pills, raw opium seized
Yangon,
2 April – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and
Lashio Special Anti-Drug Squad on 9 February seized 2,000 stimulant tablets
bearing WY letters from a house of Wantinyon of Shwenyaungpin Street, Region-6,
Ward-7, Lashio, and arrested him. The combined team searched his house following
a public tip-off.
Similarly, members of Railways
Police Force of Ywadaung Station and local intelligence unit on 22 February
searched four garlic bags of Ma Khin Than Shane while she was placing the bags
on No 215 up-train at Ywadaung Station and discovered 10 packets of raw opium
weighing 15.264 kilos.
Action is being taken against
them by the police stations concerned under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Law.

Over 87 grams
of heroin seized in Kale
Yangon,
1 April — A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and
Special anti drug squad, acting on a tip-off, on 22 March searched passenger
jeep with number plates of Kha/7861 in Kale and discovered six soap boxes
containing heroin weighing 87.36192 grams from travellers Ma Larl Ding Lyan,
daughter of U Rah Hlyan San of Region-5, Tarhan Ward, Kale Township, and Ma Non
Htar, daughter of U Byatthalon of Hsegyi Village in Kale Township. In connection
with the case, action was taken against them under Narcotic Drugs and
Psychotropic Substances Law by the police station concerned.

1.6981 kilos of
heroin seized
Yangon,
31 March -A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and
police force on 27 February night stopped and searched Tangon, 48, son of U
Gongya of No 210, Dukataung Ward, Myit-kyina, riding Supercub cycle in Myothit
Ward, Myitkyina, and discovered 1.6981 kilos of heroin. On follow-up
investigation, the authorities also detained Ganmon, 35, son of U Sum Hlut Haw.
Action was being taken against
them by Myintkyina No 2 Police Station under Section 15/19 (A) of Narcotic Drug
and Psychotropic Substances Law.
