23 Aug – Members of local intelligence unit and Muse Special Anti-drug Squad,

acting on a tip-off, stopped and searched a Honda Supercub motorbike ridden by

Yan Artae on Mantnin Village Road in Naunglaung Village heading for Muse-Namkam

road on 3 August. The authorities nabbed him and his accomplice Ma Archint

together with ten blocks of heroin weighing 3.5 kilos.

In

connection with the case, Muse Police Station is taking action against Yan Artae,

son of U Yan Shwe of Namhsam Godown Village, Muse Township, and Ma Archint,

daughter of U Aiktae under section 15/19(A)/21 of the Narcotic

Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Heroin,

raw opium seized in Mandalay

YANGON,

22 Aug – Members of local intelligence unit, acting on information on 7 August,

stopped and searched a rented motor vehicle with illegal drug traffickers in it

on 34th Street between 73th Street and 74th Street in Chanayethazan Township,

Mandalay. The authorities arrested Toe San (a) Tu Hsan, son of U Gyan Maw Yaw of

Ward-8 in Lashio, Khin Maung Aye, son of U Mya Aung of Bogyoke Street in Aung

Mingala Ward, Kalay, and Daw Thein Thein Htaik, daughter of U Mya Chit, together

with six kilos of heroin. The confession of the three under interrogation also

led to the arrest of Bauk Aung, son of U Haw Tu of Ward No-4, Kutkai.

Similarly,

a combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and railway police

force of Mandalay Railway Station searched the suspicious packets at the station

and seized 14.13 kilos of ownerless

raw opium put in a plastic bucket. Action is being

taken against the drug traffickers under the narcotic drugs and psychotropic

substances law by the police stations concerned.

17.89 grams of

heroin seized

18 Aug – A combined team comprising members of Local Intelligence Unit, Bhamo

Special Anti-Drug Squad and Bhamo Police Station, acting on information, lay in

wait near the Strand Road, Minkyaungkon Ward, Bhamo Township, searched suspected

Paw San who was riding a

motorcycle and seized him with 17.89 grams of heroin

in his bag on 12 July.

In

connection with the case, action was taken against Paw San, son of U Aung Moung

of Saingkin village, Bhamo Township under Section of 15/19(a) of Narcotic

Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by Bhamo Police

Station.

16 Aug – A combined team comprising members of Local Intelligence Unit, Local

Police Force and Bago Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on information, keeping

await, searched suspect Kyaw Gyi in front of the Shwegayha tea shop, Thahtaykon

village, Kyauktaga Township on 16 July evening and seized 81.6 grams of

marijuana. Further investigation led to the arrest of Tun Tun.

In

connection with the case, action is being taken against Kyaw Gyi, son of U San

Bwa of Kwinnauk Ward, Kyauktaga Township and Tun Tun, son of U Maung Mya of

Sartaik Ward under Section of 15/19 (A) /21 of Narcotic

15 Aug – A combined team comprising members of Local Intelligence Units , Bhamo

Special Anti-Drug Squad and Local Battalion, acting on information, searched Van

car with number plates (Kaka/7088) driven by Aik Ye

from Namhkham to Bhamo at the check point and seized passengers Long Kyan and

wife Ma Hnin Thwe and Nan Hla Kyi with 210 grams of heroin and Ma Aye Khant and

Daw Khon Hlan with 86 grams of heroin inside their baskets on 9 May, 2003.

In connection

with the case, action was taken against Long Kyan, son of U Sam Paung of Kon

Nhaw village, Myothit, Moemouk Township, Ma Hnin Thwe, daughter of U Sho Paung

and Ma Nan Hla Kyi, daughter of U San Aik of Mankham village, Nhankham Township

under Section of 15/19 (a)/21 and Ma Aye Khant, daughter of U Law Khant of

Mongkhat village, Moemouk Township and Daw Khon Hlan, daughter of U Law Kyu of

the same village under Section of 15/19 (a)/21 of Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic

Substances Law.

Opium refinery

exposed in Kutkai Township

Yangon,

13 Aug – A combined team comprising members of a local military column and

special anti-drug squad and local national races, acting on a tip-off that there

was an opium refinery between Namhsaungkye and Nampyin Villages (Map Reference

SO-5519) in Kutkai Township, Shan State (North) from 31 July to 1 August, raided

the refinery.

Seizures

made during the raid were six huts, 62.452 kilos of heroin, 36.4 kilos of

raw opium, 661.5 litres of lysol, 135 kilos of ether,

2,844 litres of chloroform, 202.5 litres of hydrochloric acid, 972 litres of

acetic anhydrite, 2,975 kilos of ammonium chloride, 500 kilos of sodium

carbonate, 500 grams of potassium chloride, 3.6 kilos of sodium metal, four bags

of charcoal, four arms, one vehicle, one motorcycle and 13 items used in

refining the narcotic drugs.

In

connection with the case, action is being taken under the Narcotic

Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Narcotic

drugs seized in Phakant, Muse, Taunggyi

Yangon,

13 Aug – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit, Myanmar

Police Force and special anti-drug squad, acting on information, searched Kyaw

Zin Tun, son of U Chit Tun, of No 225, Naungson Ward, Monyin, at Haungpa Village

Ferry in Phakant Township, on 19 July and seized 206 stimulant tablets.

Similarly,

a combined team, acting on a tip-off, stopped and searched a

motorcycle being ridden by Yan Ar Tet, son of U Yan

Shwe, of Namsangodaung Village in Muse Township, and Ma Ar Chin, daughter of U

Aik Te near Naunglaung Village in Muse Township in Shan State (North) on 3

August and seized 10 blocks of heroin weighing 3.5 kilos.

On 7 August, a

combined team searched the house of No 758, on Shwe Taunggyar Road, Yadanathiri

Ward, in Taunggyi and arrested Khun Tun Kyaw together with 5,225 stimulant

tablets.

In

connection with the cases, action is being taken against them under the Narcotic

Drugs and Psycho- tropic Substances Law.

seized in Monkoe

11 Aug-A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit, local

battalion, Muse Special Anti-Drug Squad and Monkoe Police Station, acting on

information, on 12 July, searched a China-made passenger truck driven by Kyan

Hwa Kyon at the top of Phaunghsai-Monkoe road in Ward 5, Monkoe and arrested

passengers Ma Mar Nu, 30, daughter of U Mar Tun, of Banmwe Village, Monkoe

Township together with 3.2 kilos of

raw opium; Ma Khwan Nan, 40, daughter of U Tan Saw, of

Banmwe Village 3.55 kilos of

raw opium; Ma Thein Laung, 25, daughter of U Yok Tin,

of Manhsa Village together with 2.55 kilos of

raw opium; Ma Khwun Nan, 50, daughter of U Yaw Khwan,

of Mankaw Village together with 1.25 kilos of

raw opium; Ma Kyo Si, 25, daughter of U Gyo Naung, of

Mankaw Village together with 0.6 kilo of

raw opium totaling 11.2 kilos.

Action is

being taken against the five under Section 15/19 (A)/21 of Narcotic

Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by Monkoe

Police Station.

9.640 grams of

heroin seized

YANGON,

9 Aug – A combined team comprising members of Local Intelligence Unit and Local

Battalion and Lashio Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on information, searched

Hilux with number plates (3 Ka/2571) driven by Thein Zaw from Tangyan to Pansan

at Tar-kaw-ek check point on 23 July morning and seized Ma Yan Li Pang at Tayoak

Ywathit, No 5 block, Tangyan Township with 24 heroin blocks weighing 8.640 grams

inside the two ash trays.

In

connection with the case, action was being taken against Thein Zaw, son of U Tin

Myint of Tayoak Ywathit, Tangyan and Ma Yan Li Pang (a) Ma Li Li Win under

Sections of 15/19(A)/21 of Narcotic

Hopin and Mandalay

8 Aug – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and

Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, searched the house of Daw Khin

Tint, daughter of U Chit Pe of No (245), Zabaimyaing Street, Myoma South Ward in

Hopin on 30 July and arrested her together with 1.143 kilos of

raw opium.

Similarly,

the combined team, acting on a tip-off that there will be the drug deals,

searched a house in plot No (895), between 64th and 65th Streets and 31st and

32nd Streets, Pyigyimyatshin Ward, Chanayethazan Township, Mandalay, on 1

August. The team arrested Kyaw Hlaing (a) Dar Hlyan, son of U Khaing Zar Tun of

Myoma Ward, Kanpetlet, Chin State, Ma Shwe Par (a) Ma Swe, daughter of U Suan

Mar of Yantalo Village, Falam Township, Chin State and Kar Phat Don, son of U

Kyan

Phone U of Hsaingzan Village, Tiddim Township, Chin

State, who were at the house for drug dealing , together with 153 kilograms of

Ephedrine powder used for producing stimulant tablets.

Action is

being taken against the culprits under Narcotic

7 Aug – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and

Lashio Special Anti-drug Squad, acting on a tip-off, searched the house of Phan

Yi Pha of Einainglon Village in Lashio Township on 21 July and seized 24,700

stimulant tablets, 40 grams of opium oil residue and 10 grams of low-grade opium

in the compound of the house.

In connection

with the case, action is being taken against Phan Yi Pha, son of U Phan Ho Chan

of Einainglon Village, Lashio Township, under Sections 15/19 (A) of Narcotic

Drug and Psychotropic Substances Law by the Lashio No 10 police station.

3 Aug – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and the

special anti-drug squad in Tamu on 10 July seized 816.5 grams of raw opium from

Anyi (a) Lun Kho Gin, between border checkpoints 1 and 2 in Tamu.

In connection

with the case, action was taken against Anyi (a) Lun Kho Gin, son of U Aung Shwe

(a) Lun Kho Pa, of 14-Ward in Tamu, under Section 15/19 (A) of Narcotic Drugs

and Psychotropic Substances Law by Tamu Police Station.

1 Aug – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit, Kale

Special Anti-drug Squad and local police force, acting on information, searched

a jeep with number plates (Za/1040) on its way from Kale to Chin State at the

8-mile check-point in Kale on 5 July. The team arrested passenger Ma Ket Htway

together with 144.961 grams of heroin covered by groundnut in the polythene bag.

Action is being

taken against Ma Ket Htway, daughter of U La Hu of Monta Village in Kale under

Sections 15/19 (A) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by Kale

Police Station.
