9.1 kilos of heroin seized in Laukkai

Yangon,
29 June – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and
Lashio Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on a tip-off, on 30 May evening searched
a house of Ward-2, Laukkai, and seized 9.1 kilos of heroin from Yunshanyon and
Hunlaukshin.

In connection
with the case, action is being taken against Yunshanyon, son of U Pwint Kya, and
Hunlaukshin son of U Yunlaukkyon of Kyatthit Ward, Kongyan Township, under
Section 15/19 (A) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by Laukkai
Police Station.

3.02 kilos of raw opium seized
in Momauk Township

YANGON,
27 June – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and
Bhamo Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on information, searched the
suspicious-looking Soe Tint (a) Photoke near 7-Mile Aungmyay Village, Momauk
Township on 26 May, and nabbed him together with 3.02 kilos of raw opium
concealed in a polythene bag.

Action is being
taken against Soe Tint (a) Photoke, son of U Kaw Thein and Tin Maung Win (a)
Myin Shein, owner of the raw opium, son of U Myin Thit, of Nyaungbin Ward, Bhamo
Township under Sections 15/19 (A)/21 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Law by Momauk Police Station.

Marijuana seized in Pyu
highway terminal


Yangon,
26 June – Members of the Pyu Police Station, Pyu Township, Bago Division, acting
on information, searched a passenger bus with number plates 5kha/7016 parked at
the highway terminal in Pyu on 30 May and seized 1.2247 kilos of marijuana from
a plastic basket belonging to passenger Ma Ei Ei Hlaing.

The police
station concerned filed lawsuits against Ma Ei Ei Hlaing, daughter of U Soe Tint
of Natyaykan Ward, Pyu Township; marijuana possessor Ma Hla Hla Win, daughter of
U Soe Tint; and accomplice Ma Thin (a) Ma Thin Thin Khine, daughter of U Ah Khun
of Bahtoo-3 Street, Pyu Township.

Action is being
taken against them under Sections 15/19(A) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Law.

Heroin and raw opium seized


Yangon,
26 June – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and
Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, searched the house of U An Khun Ma
Naw of No (Thasa/813) in Thazi Ward, Bhamo on 12 June. The authorities arrested
U Lashi Bran Shaung, son of U Lashi La of Yanhu Village, Namkhan Township, and U
Lashi Mar Naw, son of U Lashi Naw, found at the house together with 44.4 grams
of heroin.

On 17 June, a
similar combined team, acting on a tip-off, stopped and searched a van with
number plates La/8980 on its way from Kutkai to Muse at Mongyu 105-mile
check-point and arrested Ma Ywe Taung, daughter of U Maji Ton of Kaungkha
Village, Kutkai Township, Ma Nan Payi, daughter of U Zaw Mon, Ma Mar Payi,
daughter of U Khaw Mai Hla, and Ma Htwai Bauk, daughter of U Dot Naung, together
with 13.9 kilos of raw opium. On further investigation, the combined team also
arrested Ma Dwe Lein and Ma Lu Hsaing, daughters of U Marla of Lweweinhai
Village, Lweje Township. In this incident, 6 culprits were arrested together
with 13.9 kilos of raw opium. Action is being taken against the culprits under
Narcotic Durgs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the police stations concerned.

Heroin and stimulant tablets
seized

YANGON,
25 June – Members of Shan State (East) Special Region-4, acting on a tip-off,
searched a vehicle on its way from Mongphyan to Silu at Wamphaing Check-point in
Silu Region on 7 June. The authorities arrested Chon Hua Ywin and Chon Kye Te of
Sanyi Village, Lanchan District, Yunnan Province, China, Li Lauk Bar of
Thanyatonho Village, Lanchan District, and Hun Ae of Mongphyan Village together
with 2.8 kilos of heroin and 50,000 stimulant tablets.

Similarly,
members of the local intelligence unit, Special Anti-drug Squad, and Myanmar
Police Force, acting on information, searched the house of Sai Aung Phyu (a)
Lauk Wu, son of U Sai Laik Hsar Han of Konhsa Village, Laukkai, on 8 June and
arrested him together with 4.5002 Kilos of heroin, 1,440 stimulant tablets and
five kinds of paraphernalia used for refining the narcotic drugs.

In connection
with the case, action is being taken against the culprits under Narcotic Drugs
and Psychotropic Substances Law by Police Station concerned.

Raw opium seized in Thazi

Yangon,
21 June – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and
Thazi Police Station, acting on information, seached a Hilux (4Ka/4206) which
was on its way from Taunggyi to Meiktila at the Phaya Ngazu check point in Thazi
Township on 8 May and arrested passenger Tun Sein, son of U Tun Latt of Benin
Village, Banmauk Township, Sagaing Division, together with 1.7963 kilos of raw
opium.

Action is being
taken against the suspect under section 15/19(A)/21 of the Narcotic Drugs and
Psychotropic Substances Law by Thazi Police Station.

Stimulant tablets seized in
Mandalay

YANGON,
20 June – A combined team comprising members of Local Intelligence Unit,
Mandalay Special Anti-Drug Squad and local police force, acting on information,
searched the house of U Di Pita of No (Gagyi-105/106), No 2 Nawarat Street, Ward
C, PyinOoLwin, on 5 May morning and seized him together with 640 stimulant
tablets bearing WY in the bedroom of his wife, Daw Khun Shoung.

In connection
with the case, action is being taken against U Di Pita, son of U Khaung Dong and
Daw Khun Shoung, daughter of U Ba Yin Gam under Sections 15/19 (A)/21 of
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by PyinOoLwin Police Station.

Stimulant tablets seized

18 June – When the No 55 Mandalay-Myitkyina up-train arrived at Shwebo station
at 2.45 pm on 25 May 2003, members of Railway Police Force searched a suspect on
board and then confiscated 6,200 WY Brand stimulant tablets and arrested him.
The Shwebo Myanmar Police Station registered the case and was taking action
against Tin Win (a) Aik Thaung, son of U Hlaing Khan, of Natmahtwet Village,
Naunglaing Village-tract, Tangyan, under Section 15/19 (A) of Narcotic Drugs and
Psychotropic Substances Law.Yangon, 18 June – When the No 55 Mandalay-Myitkyina
up-train arrived at Shwebo station at 2.45 pm on 25 May 2003, members of Railway
Police Force searched a suspect on board and then confiscated 6,200 WY Brand
stimulant tablets and arrested him. The Shwebo Myanmar Police Station registered
the case and was taking action against Tin Win (a) Aik Thaung, son of U Hlaing
Khan, of Natmahtwet Village, Naunglaing Village-tract, Tangyan, under Section
15/19 (A) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

17 June – A combined team consisting of members of the local intelligence unit,
special anti-drug squad and Myanmar Police Force, acting on a tip-off on 30 May,
searched a house in Yonshe Ward, Laukkai and arrested Ywin Shinyon, son of U
Ywin Kyar Shi of Kongyan, and Ywin Laukshin, son of U Ywin Lauk Kyone, together
with 9.1 kilos of heroin at the house.

Likewise, on 5
June, another combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit
and special anti-drug squad, acting on information, searched a house located in
Shwethamin Ward, Muse, and seized house owner Mar Naw, son of U Khin Yongan
along with 10.7 kilos of raw opium. Police stations concerned are taking action
against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Drug traffickers arrested

YANGON,
16 June – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and the
Myitkyina special anti-drug squad on 12 May searched the house of U Shi Ya Aung
of Yeayechaung Ward, Mawwan tract in Phakant Township, and found 3.705 kilos of
opium owned by Bran Li staying at the house.

In connection
with the case, Phakant Police Station filed a lawsuit against U Shi Ya Aung, son
of Shiyala, and Bran Li, son of U Kweyeinraw, under Section 15/19(A)/21 of
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

8,000 stimulant tablets seized

YANGON,
15 June – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and
Mandalay Special Anti-Drug Squad on 4 May seized 8,000 stimulant tablets from
the house of Ko Ko Oo (a) Tun Shin, son of U Than Maung, of No B1/66, ward 5,
between 67th and 68th Streets and between Manawhari and Seinpan Streets in
Chanmya Thazi Township, Mandalay. In connection with the case, action is being
taken against him under section 15/19 (A) of Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Law by No 1 police station in Mandalay.

296 grams of heroin seized in Bhamo

Yangon, 9 June – A combined team comprising members of local
intelligence unit, Bhamo Special Anti-drug Squad and Tatmadawmen on 9 May seized
210 grams of heroin from passengers Laungkyan and his wife Ma Hnin Thwe, and Nan
Hla Kyi and 86 grams from Ma Aye Khant and Daw Hkon Hlyant after searching a
passenger van car en route from Namhkam to Bhamo at the Gaikhtaik check point.
In connection with the case, action is being taken against Kaungkyan, son of U
San Paung, Ma Hnin Thwe, daughter of U Hlyo Paung, Ma Nan Hla Kyi, daughter of U
Hsan Aik, of Myothit Ohnhnaw Village in Bhamo Township, Ma Aye Khant, daughter
of U Law Khant and Daw Hkon Hlyant, daughter of U Law Kyu of Monghkat Village,
Momauk Township, by Mannsi Police Station under Section 15/19 (A) of Narcotic
Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Stimulant tablets seized in
Muse

YANGON,
6 June – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and local
battalion and Muse special anti-drug squad on 7 May at noon searched Ma Yan Kyu
Shan and Ma Shain Lin Kye in Haemoelon Village and seized the former together
with 19,000 stimulant tablets bearing 888 in her snack-tin. Further
investigation led to arrests of Maung Kyan Shin, Ma Wunsu Chorn, Maung Loukkhon,
Maung Se Yin and Ma Loutthu with 1.6465 kilos of heroin.

7,220 stimulant
tablets seized in Muse

YANGON,
4 June – A combined team comprising members of Muse Special Anti-Drug Squad and
local intelligence unit on 4 May afternoon seized 7,220 stimulant tablets
bearing WY letters after searching Yan Chanfu in front of his house of Homon
Ward, Muse. According to his confession, the tablets were purchased from Ma Hway
Chin and her husband Kyauk Gamone of No 22, Shwe Thamin Ward, Muse. Although Ma
Hway Chin was arrested her husband managed to escape.

In connection
with the case, Muse Police Station filed Yan Chanfu (a) Yan Say, 43, son of U
Yan Chaung Phaint and Kyauk Gamone, 32, son of U Chaing Khay under Section 15/19
(A)/ 21 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Heroin, raw opium seized

YANGON,
4 June – Members of local intelligence unit and Myanmar Police Force, acting on
information, searched the rented house of Tom Kaw Lyan, son of U Tom Chint Kyone,
of Ward 1 in Monkoe on 18 May and found 50 blocks of heroin weighing 500 grams.
Similarly, a combined group searched a Jeep with number plates Za/ 1041 which
was leaving Kalay for Reed Township in Falam District, Chin State, and arrested
Talan Thindom, son of U Lan Bil of Monhta Village in Kalay Township, together
with 38.781 grams of heroin. In addition, a combined group, while waiting at 7
Mile Village in Momauk Township, searched Soe Tint (a) Phoe Tok, son of U Kyaw
Thein of the village, and found 3.02 kilos of raw opium. On further
investigation, Tin Maung Win, son of U Myint Thit of Nyaungbin (North) region in
Bahmo Township. The police stations concerned filed them under the Narcotic
Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Law.

Marijuana seized in Nyaunglaybin

Yangon,
1 June -A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit, Bago
Special Anti-Drug Squad and local Police Force on 10 April searched Ma Sanda
Win, 30, daughter of U Tin Maung, of Nyaunglaybin at the entrance to Paukkyaing
Guest House on Bogyoke Street in Nyaunglaybin and seized marijuana weighing
0.816 kilo in her polyethylene bag.

Further
information led to the seizure of 0.245 kilo of marijuana at the house of Daw
Shwe Toke, 56, daughter of U Tun Kyaing, of Ward 3, Nyaunglaybin and 2.939 kilos
of marijuana at the house of Tin Tun, 32, son of U Thaung Kwe, of Ywathit Ward,
Nyaunglaybin. The authorities then searched Myint Aung, 35, son of U Shwe Thi
and husband of Ma Sanda Win, of Nyaunglaybin, in front of Fire Station and
arrested him together with K 900 realized from the sale of marijuana.

Action is being
taken against the four under Section 15/19 (A) 21 of Narcotic Drugs and
Psychotropic Substances Law.
