54.87 kilos of opium seized in Phakant Township

YANGON, 7 Nov – Opium weighing 54.87 kilos were seized from a house in Bazanchaung Village, Pha-kant Township, Kachin State, on 8 October.

The authorities comprising members of Defence Services Intelligence Unit and Myanmar Police Force first searched the house of U Win Lon (a) Law Hsan and his wife Daw Phan Yan Kyi at 51, Ward 1, in the village.

The authorities did not find any narcotic drugs in the house but they saw the husband trying to conceal a key chain. The authorities seized it and unlocked the house next door to U Win Lon’s.

They uncovered 51 packets of opium in the house which belongs to U Kyan Kyint Yo and Daw Yar Lint.

Action is being taken against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
