Introduction |
Arrangements
are being made for the opening of the University of Culture,
Mandalay in November, 2001. |
The
Location and Area |
|
The
implementation plan for the construction of the University of
Culture, Mandalay was initiated on February 8 th, 1999. It is situated on the Shwesaryan
pagoda Road, Ohn Chaw Village, Patheingyi Township, Mandalay
Division and the area is 41.35 acres. |

The
Set-up |
|
The
set-up is that there are 149 staff in the Administration Department,
102 in the Department of Training, 232 in the Department of the
Faculty members, totalling 483. |
The
Recruitment of Staff |
|
19.
Administration Staff and 52 faculty members, 71 in total, have
already been appointed for the University of Culture, Mandalay until
May, 2001. The arrangements are being made for the co-operation with
the Department of Higher Education for the recruitment of the
lecturers, not more than one-fourth of the set-up. |

Completion
State of Construction Works |

It
has been planned to open the University of Culture, Mandalay in
November, 2001-2002 academic year and implemented programmes are as
follows: |
(a)

Teaching
Halls for Cultural Subjects |
Teaching
Halls for Cultural Subjects have been completed 100 %. |
(b)

Teaching
Hall (1) for Academic Subjects |
|
Teaching
Hall (1) for Academic Subjects has been completed 95 %. Allocated
budget is K 40.568 million. |
(c)
|
Hostel
for Faculty Members (Male) |
It
is now being constructed for the accommodation of between 8 and 16
male facutly members who are single. 22 % of the construction work
for the staff quarter, being carried out prior to the allocated
budget, has been completed. The construction work of the three
buildings for the faculty members is going to be initiated beginning
in May, 2001. |

Residence
of the Rector and quarters for the staff |
The
Residence of the rector, staff quarter (1) and (2) have been
completed 100%. |
(e) |
Main
Building (Administration) |
|
This
main building is for offices of the rector and adminestrative
officers. It is targeted to complete it before the University opens.
15 million Kyats, which is 20 % of the allocated budget has been
received and 30 % of construction works have been completed. It is
planned to complete it in August 2001. |

The
arrangments are being made for the opening of the University of
Culture, Mandalay before the target date, i.e November, 2001. |
