Foreign Minister U Win Aung left for Bangkok

Yangon, 22 June 2001. Foreign Minister U Win Aung left for Bangkok, Thailand early this morning by Myanmar Airways. He is on a visit to Bangkok on the invitation of the Thai Foreign Minister Mr. Surakiart Sathirathai. They are supposed to hold discussions on the convening of the Joint Commission between the two nations. It is in continuation to the joint communique made by the Thai Prime Minister Dr. Thaksin Shinawatra and Senior General Than Shwe, Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar on 20 June. He was seen off at the airport by the Minister for Finance and Revenue, U Soe Tha, the Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Maj. Gen. Sein Htwar, the Deputy Foreign Minister U Khin Maung Win, Directors-General from the Foreign Ministry and staff.
