161.37 kilos of opium seized in Monywa

Yangon,
23 Aug – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and
Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, searched a Hilux of Chindwin Bus
Line with number plate Da/8703, going from Monywa to Mandalay, driven by Myint
Lwin of Chanmyathazi Ward in Monywa and accompanied by conductors Myint Swe of
Chanmyathazi Ward and Hla Shwe of Ayethaya Ward in Monywa, and found 161.37
kilos of opium at the check-point in Monywa on 4 August. Action is being taken
against them under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the police
station concerned.
