Cooperation with the UNDCP

A contract on 6- month project on Demand Reduction Epidemiological and Rapid

Assessment Study of the Extent of Drugs Abuse in 36 Townships in Myanmar was signed on 25 April 1998 and

was implemented with the assistance of UNDCP which contributed US$ 31,640. Another contract on a 1-year project on strengthening of the capacity of

Yangon. Treatment and Research Unit was signed on 14 July 1995 and implemented with the

UNDCP. The’ UNDCP’s contributions to the project were US$ 94,977.

 

Furthermore, the Agreement on Drug Abuse Control in Myanmar-China border area and

Myanmar-Thailand border area was signed among

Myanmar, the People’s Republic of China, Thailand and UNDCP Under the project which covered 3 years from 1993 to 1996, sub-projects on regional development, demand reduction and law enforcement were carried out in 12 villages of Silu / Pangkai Village Tract in Mongyong Township and in 17 villages of SanLu / Adee Village Tract in Tachileik Township in Shan State.
