The Era of the Revolutionary Council Government
(1962-1974)
During this era, Myanmar and the United Nations first started cooperation in
combating narcotic drugs, due to the latter’s offer of assistance in Myanmar’s
anti-narcotics activities which were effectively carried out through adoption of projects. Therefore
Myanmar acceded to the 1961 single Convention on Narcotic Drugs on 29 July 1963 with a view to cooperating with the United Nations in the prevention and suppression of narcotic drugs.
