Foreign Military Attaches, personnel from the UN Agencies, local and foreign journalists attending
the press briefing concerning the Operation Nga-Ye-Pan phase (4) and Toungyanshin phase (4).
Under this operation launched from 7 December 1987 to 22
February 1988, in Mong Pyin, Kyaing Tong, Mong Phat, Mong Hsat,
Mong Tong, Townships of Eastern Command region and in Tan Yang,
Lashio, Theinni Townships in North Eastern Command in Shan State,
25494 acres of poppy fields were destroyed with the deployment of 5
Thrush planes, one PC-6 plane and one 205 Bell Helicopter.
