Narcotic drugs seized

YANGON,

23 July – The Myitkyina District Court handed down a sentence on an drug

trafficker on 20 June 2000.

Acting on information, a combined team

comprising local intelligence unit, members of Myitkyina Anti-drug Squad and

Tatmadawmen of local regiment, at Ward 2, Hseikmu Village, Hpakant Township, at

9.30 pm on 19 March 2000, searched Ma Nan Mya, 40, daughter of U Ba Kyaw, of No

B/58, Thayagon Ward, the same village, and seize,d 407 gms of heroin kept in 24

SOUP boxes in a plastic bag in her possession.

Action was taken against her under the

Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law and she was sentenced to 15

years’ imprisonment under Section 19 (A).

Likewise, a combined team comprising local

intelligence unit and members of Myanmar Police Force, acting on information,

while waiting on the road of Monshu gems land, Monshu, Shan State (South), on 3

July 2000, and searched one suspect Lauk-ae, son of U Lauk Shei, of Ponsan

Village, Monshu gems land, the same town, and seized 3,900 stimulant tablets

bearing the words “WY”.

Action was taken against him under the

Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Law by the Police Station concerned.
