drug-related cases exposed in August
YANGON,
27 Sept-The Tatmadaw, the Myanmar Police Force and the Customs Department
exposed 296 drug-related cases in August. The authorities seized 62.4942 kilos
of opium in 24 cases, 87.137 kilos of heroin in 96 cases, 3.0589 kilos of opium
oil in 5 cases, 2.0293 kilos of low-grade opium in 14 cases, 11.2476 kilos of
marijuana in 45 cases, 4.95 litres of Phensedyl in two cases, 376,277 stimulant
tablets in 52 cases, 481.47 kilos of Ephedrine in five cases, 29.96 litres of
cough syrup in two cases, 3.516 kilos of opium powder in two cases, 0.0005 kilo
of stimulant powder, 4.5 kilos of chemical powder, 42 cases for failure to
register and seven other cases.
The Tatmadaw
regiments and units seized 4.8978 kilos of opium in one case, 0.0336 kilo of
heroin in two cases and 191 kilos of Ephedrine in two cases. The MPF seized
5.0694 kilos of opium in 12 cases, 0.3675 kilo of heroin in 70 cases, 0.0106
kilo of opium oil in one case, 1.9212 kilos of low-grade opium in 13 cases,
9.1821 kilos of marijuana in 41 cases, 4.95 litres of Phensedyl in two cases,
13,421 stimulant tablets in 28 cases, 285.67 kilos of Ephedrine in three cases,
29 litres of cough syrup in one case, 0.131 kilo of opium powder in one case, 42
cases for failure to register and seven other cases. Seizures made by the
Tatmadaw and the MPF were 51.5262 kilos of opium in 11 cases, 86.7359 kilos of
heroin in 24 cases, 3.0483 kilos of opium oil in seven cases, 0.1081 kilo of
low-grade opium in one case, 2.0655 kilos of marijuana in two cases, 362856
stimulant tablets in 24 cases, 4.8 kilos of Ephedrine, 0.96 litre of cough syrup
in one case, 3.455 kilos of opium powder in one case, 0.0005 kilo of stimulant
powder and 4.5 kilos of chemical powder. Action was taken against 421 culprits�330
men and 91 women in 296 cases in August.
