Drug trafficker sentenced
life
Yangon, 5 Feb –
A combined team comprising members of the Border Area Discipline Enforcement
Unit (1), acting on information, seized 1,650,000 stimulant tablets from Thai
national Phihtat Tinama at Wonpon Jetty in Mongphon, Tachilek Township, on 10
June 2001. The Tachilek Police Station took action against Phihtat Tinama, 42,
son of Naing Lone Shwe of Changmai Thailand, under Section 15/19(A)/20 (B) of
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law. He was sentenced to life
imprisonment under Section 19 (A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Law by the Tachelik District Court on 9 January 2002. One gold chain,
one gold pendant and one gold hand-chain were confisticated.
