Over 290 kilos of raw opium seized in Kutkai

3 April – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit, Myanmar

Police Force and Shan State (North) Special Region-5, acting on information,

searched the shop of Chein Kyar Hua, son of U Chein Taung Sein, at the Myoma

Market, Ward-3, Kaung-kha Myothit, Kutkai Township, Shan State (North), on 30

March. The authorities apprehended Chein Kyar Hua and his wife Daw Twan Shwe

Yint together with 153.94 kilos of raw opium stashed in the bedroom. After

further investigation, the authorities searched the shop of Wan Shan Yin at the

same market and seized 136.92 kilos of ownerless raw opium. In the process, two

drug possessors together with 290.86 kilos of raw opium were seized. Action was

taken against them under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the

police station concerned.
