Stimulant tablets and raw opium seized

Yangon,

27 Feb — A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and

Lashio Special Anti-drug Squad, acting on information, searched the house of

Lauk Choung of Ward 2, Laukkai and arrested Yan Kyin San and Lauk Eal together

with 3,000 stimulant tablets, 2 kilos of raw opium, 100 grams of fragrant

powder, 1.5 kilos of Sudo Ephedrine powder, 7 kilos of ammo-nium chloride, 8 pyi

of poppy seeds, paraphernalia and ammu-nitions on 9 January 2002.

Similarly, a combined team comprising members

of the local intelligence unit and Myitkyina Special Anti-drug Squad, acting on

information, on 15 February 2003 searched the house of Kyi Han of No 110,

Kalutgon, Myoma Ward, Phakant Township and seized 2.171 kilos of raw opium.

Action is being taken against them under the

Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the police stations concerned.

Narcotic drugs

and chemical liquid exposed in Monkoe

Yangon,

26 Feb — A combined team comprising local Tatmadawmen, members of the local

intelligence unit and Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, searched the

house of Shauk Lin (a) Lin Yi Lu of No (194), Ward (1) in Monkoe, Shan State

(North), on 7 February.

The authorities seized house

owner Shauk Lin and U Khon Shauk Shawt of No (58), Ward (2), Monkoe, together

with 0.35 kilo of heroin, one Tiger vehicle without licence and K 3 million

realized from the sales of drugs.

On further investigation, the

combined team combed the house of U Khon Shauk Shawt and seized 15.75 kilos of

heroin, 3,000 stimulant tablets, 1,062 liters of Ether, 8 barrels and 22.5

liters of Chloroform, 23 barrels of spirit, 3 barrels of Sulphuric Acid, 44

liters of Hydrochloric Acid, 18 Liters of Nitric Acid, 44 kilos of Calcium

Chloride, 8.5 kilos of Sodium Hydroxide, 520 kilos of chemical powder, 34 boxes

of Sodium, one Tiger vehicle without licence and 20 items of paraphernalia.

Action is being taken against the

culprits by the police station concerned.

seized in Kyaukme

Yangon,

19 Feb — A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and local

police force, acting on a tip-off, on 24 January searched Dan Bahadu (a) Kwet

Lay at the corner of Sao San Tun Road and Thrimingala Road, Ward-2,  in Kyaukme,

and seized 1.14 kilos of marijuana hidden in the bamboo.

Action is being taken against Dan

Bahadu (a) Kwet Lay, 39, son of U Kalu Sint, of Panlong Village, Kywegon

Village-tract, Kyaukme Township, under Section 15/19 (A)/ 20 (A) of Narcotic

Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the police station concerned.

Heroin, marijuana seized in Myitkyina

Yangon,

15 Feb — A combined team comprising members of Local Intelligence Unit and

Myitkyina Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on information, searched Tun Tun near

Thaungcho creek, Ayemya-thaya Ward, Phakant on 14 January morning and arrested

him together with 0.2 grams of heroin and K 40,000.

According to

further investigations, the combined team searched the house of Daw Myo of No

107, Ayemyathaya Ward, Phakant who managed to escape and seized K 800,000 in a

box.They searched the house of Tun Tun of No 90, Ayemyathaya Ward and seized 43

grams of heroin. Similarly, a combined teamed team comprising members of Local

Intelligence Unit and Hpa-an Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on information,

searched Zaya Soe (a) Kala Gyi driving a motorcycle with-out number plates at

the junction of Bogyoke Street, Kawkareik on 28 January morning and seized him

together with 1.552 Kilos of marijuana. In connection with the above cases,

action is being taken against the suspects under the Section of Narcotic drugs

and Psychotropic Substances Law by Myanmar Police Forces.

Heroin, morphine seized

in Lashio 

Yangon,

14 Feb — A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and

Lashio Special Anti-drug Squad, acting on information, on 3 January 2003

searched the Hilux vehicle with number plates Da/1359 near Hopate Village in

Lashio Township and seized 2.649 kilos of heroin in soap boxes.

Similarly, a combined team

comprising members of the local intelligence unit and Lashio Special Anti-drug

Squad, acting on information, on 18 January morning searched a van with number

plates 5 ka/ 5624 driven by SAi Kyaw (a) Aung Mya on Bogyoke Street in Lashio

and seized 67 bags of morphine powder, 20 bags of solid morphine weighing 73.95

kilos.

Action is being taken against

them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by police station

concerned.

Woman caught together

with heroin       

Yangon,

7 Feb — A 45-year-old woman was caught together with 107.1 grams of heroin in

her possession at Shwebo Railway Station on 8 January. The woman, Ma Myint Myint

Yi (a) Ma San Yi, was a passenger on Mandalay-Myitkyina Up train. The

authorities found the heroin kept hidden under garlic in her basket while

searching the passengers. Action has been taken against Ma Myint Myint Yi (a) Ma

San Yi of Takaw village, Bamauk Township, under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic

Substances Law.

Heroin and stimulant

tablets seized in Chinshwehaw  

Yangon,

5 Feb — A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and

Myanmar Police Force, acting on a tip-off, searched the house of U Wular Hauk

(a) U Woolaung Haung of No 162, Ward-3, on Nyeinchanyay Road, in Chinshwehaw,

Shan State (North), on 26 January and confiscated 17.2 grams of heroin and

34,200 stimulant tablets.

In connection with the case,

action is being taken against him by the police station concerned under Narcotic

Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Opium refinery exposed

in Laukkai Township

Yangon,

4 Feb—A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit, the

local Tatmadaw battalion and Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, raided

and combed the area at the map reference (P 605380) near Ahlarbye Village in

Laukkai Township on 12 January.

The team seized two huts used as opium refinery

504 litres of ethylalcohol, three litres of hydrochloric acid, eight kilos of

bone charcoal, two flasks, one large steel funnel, two large enamelled bowls,

one balance, 32 wooden trays used in drying out heroin and five inflaters.

Action is being taken in connection with the

seized items under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the

police station concerned.

Opium seized in Phakant

Yangon,

3 Feb—A combined team

comprising members of the local  intelligence unit and the local police force,

acting on information, searched the house of Sein Hlaing, son of U Thaung, of

Aunkkalahmaw Village, Myaukpyu Village-tract, Phakant Township, on 30 December

2002 and seized 694.5 grams of opium.

Further information led to the

arrest of suspect Ma Thein Nyo, 32, daughter of U Aik Ohn, of the same ward.

Action is being taken against the

two under Section 15/19(A)/21 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotrotic Substances Law

by Phakant Police Station.

Thai national Aik Owi

(a) Htila Whit arrested together with stimulant tablets

Yangon,

2 Feb—A combined team comprising the local intelligence unit and the border

region rule enforcement agency, acting on information, intercepted Thai national

Aik Owi (a) Htila Whit, 36, son of Nainesanit, of No 207, Block-6, Pagway Ward,

Chiang Rai, Thailand, who is making his way from Maisai to Tachilek, on the

Tachilek-Maisai friendship bridge on 29 January and seized 9,800 stimulant

tablets concealed in his Jean jacket.

Further information led to the

arrest of the ten suspects together with 610,000 stimulant tablets at the house

of Aik Owi in Weinkyauk Village, Honglek Village-tract, Tachilek Township on 30

January. Action is being taken against the suspects under Narcotic Drugs and

Psychotropic Substances Law by the police station concerned in Myanmar.
