Opium refinery
exposed in Hsenwi Township

Yangon,
23 July – A combined team including local Tatmadawmen and members of local
intelligence unit and Myanmar Police Force, acting on information that there was
a house in Namtwayhaw Village (Map reference U-099875), Namkhait Village-tract,
Hsenwi Township, Shan State (North) and paraphernalia was stored there, raided
the house on 20 July.

The
authorities arrested five culprits and and seized 5.6 kilos of heroin, 10.28
kilos of opium, 681.9 litres of chloroform, 681.9 litres of ether, 120 pyis of
poppy seeds, one .30 carbine, one magazine, 10 rounds of ammunition and one
hand-made


gun
from the house of Lihway, 40, son of U Showel.

 

After
questioning the culprits and obtaining their confession, the authorities also
raided old refinery at the place (Map reference U-116910) and seized 409.14
litres of chloroform and 22.73 litres of loizol. Action is being taken against
the culprits under the Narcotic


Drugs
and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Opium refinery

YANGON,
22 July – A combined team comprising local Tatmadawmen, members of the
intelligence



unit and Myanmar Police Force, acting on
information that there was an opium refinery near Pannaungka Village,
Hsaikkhanug Village-tract, Hsihseng Township, Shan State (South), raided the
refinery on 19 July.


The combined team encountered a guard of
the refinery who opened fire on it with small arms.


The combined team seized an unidentified
body with one pistol, one magazine and 13 rounds of ammunition.


After clearing the area where the body
was found, the team seized an opium refinery at an estimated


map
reference S-016656 together with six
opium-refining huts, 2.3 kilos of heroin, 90 litres of ether, 900 litres of
acetic anhydride, 225, litres of hydrochloric acid, 4,725 litries of acid, 8.165
kilos of opium residue and five items used in refining the narcotic drugs and
weapons and ammunition.




 


Acting on information, the combined team
proceeded to Naungtapan Village, and searched the house of Ma Moe Laung, 35 and
arrested her together with 10.5 kilos of opium, 7.7 kilos of morphine and K
4,950,000.


Action is being taken against them under
the Narcotic

YANGON,
22 July – A combined team comprising local Tatmadawmen, members of the
intelligence unit and Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, searched a
Dyna bus, which left Phaunghsai, on the road in Ward 5, Monkoe, Shan State
(North) on 12 July and arrested passengers Ma Mar Lu, daughter of U Mar Tu of
Banhmway Village in Manyant Village-tract, Monkoe Township, Ma Khun Nan,
daughter of U Htan Khao, Ma Gyo Hsay, daughter of U Gyo Naung, Ma Tein Lauk,
daughter of U Zon Tin of Manhsa Village, Kyinhton Village-tract, Monkoe Township
and Ma Khun Nan, daughter of U Yaw Khaw of Pankaw Village, Phaunghsai
Village-tract, Monkoe Township, together with 11.2 kilos of opium.


On 13 July, the combined team, acting on
information, searched the house of Daw Shant Shi Chan at Ward 1, Monkoe, and
seized Daw Shant Shi Chan and Rongchun Hwa of Kholong Village, Lujian Township,
Paukshan District, Yunnan Province, with 650 stimulant tablets, 201 grams of
opium and 156 grams of heroin. In addition, another combined team stopped the
bus with number plates Ka/326 which left Falam, at 8th Mile Check-point, Kale,
on 13 July and seized Za Thwal Lal of Letpanchaung Village, Kale Township, with
33.203 grams of heroin.

21 July – Members of local intelligence unit and Muse Special Anti-drug Squad,
acting on information, searched a place near Malun-Kaungwaing old village to the
south-west of Namoud Village in Muse Township on 24 June afternoon and seized
Saw Hla together with 80 gallons of lysol, 56 gallons of ether and 100 litres of
hydrochloric acid.

Station filed Saw Hla, son of U Shwe Kyaung of Manhaung Village in Namoud
village-tract in Muse under Section 15/16 (C) of Narcotic

Low-grade opium
seized in Phakant

YANGON,
18 July – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit,
Myitkyina Anti-Drug Squad and the local battalion, acting on information,
inspected the house of U Kyin Khong Lwam of Nanhsam-1 Village, Lonkhin
Village-tract, Phakant Township, at 11.10 am on 24 June and seized 122.47 kilos
of low-grade opium.

Action is taken
against U Kyin Khong Lwam, son of U Kyin Paung Lwam of Nanhsam-1 Village,
Lonkhin Village-tract, Phakant Township, under the Sections 15/19 (A) of
Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Law.

35.01 grams of
heroin seized in Bhamo

Yangon,
17 July – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence units and
Bhamo special anti-drug squad, acting on a tip-off, on 19 June searched Ma
Darshilu at Shanwai street in Paukkon Ward, Bhamo, and discovered 35.01 grams of
heroin concealed in soap box in her bag.

Action has been
taken against Ma Darshilu, daughter of U Da Shigan of Mongkaung Village, Mansi
Township, under Section 19 (A) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law
by Bhamo Police Station.

Heroin seized
in Bhamo Township


Yangon,
14 July-A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and
Bhamo Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on information, searched suspect Maung Kha
Aung at Kachingyaung junction of Si-in Village, Bhamo Township, on 20 June and
seized 49.50 grams of heroin hidden in soapcases in his rucksack.

Action is being
taken against Maung Kha Aung, son of Hla Naing, of Alinyaung Ward, Momauk under
Sections 16/19 (A) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by Bhamo
Police Station.

Narcotic drugs
seized in Mandalay

Yangon,
11 July – Acting on information tipped off by a garbage collector in Mandalay,
local intelligence unit members seized 38,600 stimulant tablets, 0.11gm of
crushed stimulant pill, 2 heroin blocks weighing 0.7 kilo and 0.4 kilo of opium
oil from a garbage bag. Further investigation led to the search of the house No
61/50 between 71st and 72nd Streets and 32nd and 33rd Streets in Chanmya Thazi
Township in Mandalay. Maung Win (a) Lishin San, owner of the drugs had fled and
2,625 stimulant tablets and K 794,500 realized from the sale of drugs were
confiscated. Action is being taken againsts him by the local police station.

37.16 kilos of heroin seized
in Muse

YANGON,
7 July – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and
Myanmar Police Force, after getting information that narcotic drugs would be
brought to the house of Kyan Haung Gyaung (a) Shauk Haw, son of U Kyan Yin Chwin,
of No I/233 in Zay Ward in Muse, awaited near the house.

In the
meantime, a Mark II with licence plates KaKa/8211 came to the house and then
suddenly drove away. So, the authorities chased the car and managed to seize it
near Yahtaik Co beside Pyidaungsu road in Muse. They then arrested driver Kyan
Hong Jong (a) Shauk Haw together with 37.16 kilos of heroin.

In connection
with the case the police station concerned is taking action against him under
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

5,250 stimulant tablets seized

YANGON,
7 July – A combined team comprising members of Lashio Special Anti-drug Squad
and local intelligence unit, acting on a tip-off, on 5 June evening searched Ma
Nan Wai Lwin on Hsenwi Road in Region-5, Ward-8, Lashio, and discovered 5,250
stimulant tablets in her bag.

In connection
with the case, action was being taken against Ma Nan Wai Lwin, daughter of U
Mann San, of Nanslap Village, Hsenwi Township, under Section 15/19 (A) of
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Opium dust seized

YANGON,
5 July – Members of Mawton Police Station in Taninthayi Township, Taninthayi
Division, on 14 June searched two suspects, Shwe Toe and Sein Than, near Htonnwe
Village in Taninthayi Township and seized 160 packets of opium dust weighing
13.0637 kilos from the former and 72 packets of opium dust weighing 5.8785 kilos
from the latter.

In connection
with the case, Taninthayi Police Station is taking action against Shwe Toe, son
of U Aung Ba Shin, and Sein Than, son of U Maung, under Section 15/19(A)/21 of
the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances law.

Raw opium
seized

YANGON,
4 July – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and
the Muse Anti-Drug Squad, searched a passenger bus bound to Muse from Kutkai at
the 105-mile checkpoint at 11.30 am on 17 June.

The authorities
discovered a total of 13.9 kilos of raw opium – 4.1 kilos from Ma Ywe Taung, 3.3
kilos from Ma Nan Pari, 3.2 kilos from Ma Htwe Bauk, and 3.3 kilos from Ma Mar
Pari. Also seized together with them were Ma Dwe Lein and Ma Lu Hsaing.

Action is being
taken against them under Sections 15/19(A)/21 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Law by the Muse Police Station.

Narcotic drugs seized in
Monkoe, Bhamo, Muse

Yangon,
3 July – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit and
Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, stopped and searched a Beijing Jeep
bus, going from Phaunghsai to Monkoe, at Kaungtat Police Station in Monkoe
Township, Shan State (North), on 19 June and seized passenger Re Se, son of U
Yee Shwe Hpa of Panphek Village, Monhoung Village-tract, Kutkai Township,
together with 26 rounds of M-22 ammunition. Further investigation led to seizure
of Ri Kya Sant, son of U Rin In Chaw of Ward 4, Tayok Village, Phaunghsai
Village-tract, with 940 grams of raw opium.

While the
combined team were waiting on the lane in Budozagon (Shanwaing Ward), Paukkon
Ward, Bhamo, they searched suspect Ma Dashi Lu, daughter of U Da Shi Gam of Ward
4, Mongkhong Village, Mansi Township, with 35.01 grams of heroin the same day.
On 24 June, the combined team comprising members of the local battalion and
Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on information, searched the place where
precursor chemical liquid which can be used in refining heroin were hidden in
the bush beside the lane near old Malun Village in Muse Township.

The team arrested
Sai Saw Hla, who looked after the chemical liquid, son of U Shwe Kyaung of
Manhaung Village, Namhon Village-tract, Muse Township, together with 252 litres
of Ether, 360 litres of Lysol and 100 litres of Hydrochloric acid.

Actions are being
taken against them under Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Law at the
police station concerned.
