Heroin blocks seized in
Myawady

YANGON,
31 May – A combined team comprising members of Myawady Mobile Anti-Drug Squad
and Local Police Force searched Aung Saw and Maung Thein at the jetty of No 3
Ward, Myawady on 3 April evening, 2003 and seized the former together with three
heroin blocks weighing 0.029 kilo from his bag and the latter, one heroin block
weighing 0.343 kilo and totaling four heroin blocks weighing 1.372 kilos. Action
was being taken against Aung Saw, 33, son of U Phyu and Maung Thein, 25, son of
U Kyaw Yin in Hsihseng Township and their accomplice U Lun under Section of
15/19(a)/20(a)/21 of Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Law by Myawady
Police Station.

Heroin seized

YANGON,
30 May – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit,
Bhamo Anti-drug Squad and local police force, acting on information, searched a
passenger bus en route from Laiza to Myitkyina at Lajayan on 4 May morning.

5 packs of heroin
weighing 75 grams in total were seized from passenger Ma Ma Latt, and 133 grams
of heroin were also found on passenger Daw La Ban Ywe. The Myothit Police
Station filed lawsuits against Ma Ma Latt, 41, daughter of U Phaw Shigam of
Washao Village, Waingmaw Township; and Daw La Ban Rwe, 42, daughter of U La Ban
Gan of Washao Village, Waingmaw Township.

Action is being
taking against them under Sections 15/19 (A) of the Narcotic Drugs and
Psychotropic Substances Law by the Myothit Police Station.

Stimulant tablets and heroin
seized in Monkoe, Myaungmya

Yangon,
27 May – A team made up of members of local intelligence unit and Myanmar Police
Force, acting on information, searched Daw Yan Kyu Shan, daughter of U Yauk Pyin
Mon of No 64, and Daw Shi Lin Kye, daughter of U Shein Khaing Mint, of No 81,
Ward 1, Monkoe, Shan State (North), at the bazaar in Hemolon Village, and seized
19,000 stimulant tablets on 7 May this year.

In connection
with the seizure, the authorities then searched the house of Daw Yan Kyu Shan
and arrested five drug traffickers with 2.3265 kilos of heroin on 17 May.

Acting on a
tip-off, a similar team searched the house of Zaw Moe (a) Zaw Moe Win (a) Moe
Gyi, son of U Hla Aye, of No 15, 12th Street, Ward 5, Myaungmya, and seized 260
stimulant tablets.

The police
stations concerned are taking action against the drug traffickers under the
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

43,950 stimulant pills seized


Yangon,
26 May-A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit, local
battalion, Customs, Lashio Anti-drug Squad and local police force on 3 May
stopped and searched a passenger bus with licence plates No 6Ka/7585 en route
from Pansang to Tanyang at the checkpoint of Tarcoet Bridge. The authorities
seized passenger Kyaung Hla together with 43,950 stimulant tablets bearing WY
letters in a polythene bag.

In connection
with the case Tanyang Police Station is taking action against Kyaung Hla, son of
U Pu Hlaing Htikham of Mongnga Village in Pansang under Sections 15/19(A) of the
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Heroin and raw opium seized

YANGON,
25 May – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and
Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, searched a Hilux vehicle with
number plates 4Ka/4206 at Phayangasu Checkpoint in Thazi Township on 7 May and
seized a package of raw opium weighing 1.633 kilo from passenger Tun Sein, son
of U Tun Hla of Peinin Village, Bamauk Township.

Similarly, a
combined team, acting on a tip-off, searched a hut on the farm north of Tonkhan
Village in Muse Township on 11 May. They arrested hut watchman Chein Kwe (a) Arh
Kwe, son of U Chein Taing Pan of Khoman Village, Kutkai Township, together with
150 grams of heroin concealed in the wall of the drainage behind the hunt. On
further investigation, owner of the hunt and heroin Li Phu Cheat, son of U Tein
Chein Htint of No Ha/710, Homon Ward, Muse, was also arrested.

Action is being
taken against the culprits and drugs under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Law by police stations concerned.

Raw opium seized

YANGON,
25 May – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit,
Myitkyina Special Anti-drug Squad and local police force, searched three bags
bearing the name of Daw Aye Maung on No (49) Naba-Myitkyina train at Hopin
Railway Station on 15 May. The authorities found 14 packages of raw opium
weighing 19.15 kilos hidden under jaggery in the bags.

Action is being
taken against Daw Aye Maung, daughter of U Kyan Wa of Zaydan Ward, Tagwin
Village, Hopin Township, and raw opium owner U Law Si (a) Maung Si (a) Htaw Pei,
son of U Kyan Wa of the same village, under Sections 15/19(A) of Narcotic Drugs
and Psychotropic Substances Law by Hopin Police Station.

Marijuana seized in Kyaikto

YANGON,
24 May – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit, Bago
Special Anti-drug Squad and local police force, acting on information, on 9
April searched two suspects, Thein Than and Thet Aung in front of Nway
restaurant near Yangon-Mottama road at Satthwachon village in Waw Township. The
authorities arrested Thet Aung together with 1 kilo of marijuana and Thein Than
escaped from the restaurant.

Action is being
taken against Thet Aung, 33, son of U Thein Lwin of Theinzayat in Kyaikto
Township and Thein Than who are at large under Sections 15/19(A)/21 of the
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by Nyaungkhashay Police Station.

Marijuana seized

YANGON,
21 May – A combined team made up of members of the local intelligence unit, Bago
Anti-drug Squad and local police force, acting on information, on 18 April
searched the house of Myint Zaw of No 12, Mingala Street, Kalayani Ward, Bago,
and seized him together with one kilo of marijuana buried in the ground.

Bago N0 3 Police
Station, in connection with case, is taking action against Myint Zaw, 47, son of
U Ngwe Khaing, and his wife Ma Arma (a) Ma Soe Soe Win, 43, daughter of U Ko
under sections 15/19(A)/20(A)/21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Law.

Stimulant tablets seized in
Hpa-an












Yangon,
18 May – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit, Hpa-an
Special Anti-drug Squad and local police force, searched a Hilux vehicle with
number plates Na/7067, on its way from Yangon to Hpa-an, at Thanlwin Bridge on
25 April and seized 11,302 stimulant tablets bearing WY from the bag of
passenger Win Naing.

In connection
with the case, action is being taken against Win Naing, 31, son of U Tin Aung of
Yangok Village, Kawkareik Township, and his accomplices Kyi Lwin of Lanmadaw
Ward, Meiktila, Ma Aye Yi of 42nd Street between 66th and 67th Streets in
Mandalay and Nay Yaing of Ward-1 in Myawady under Sections 15/19(A)/21 of
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by Hpa-an Police Station.

Narcotics
seized in Monkoe and Muse

Yangon,
5 May – A combined team comprising members of local Tatmadawmen, local
intelligence unit and Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, searched the
house of Daw Markaw (a) Nanja, daughter of U Daize, of No 82, Ward-4 in Monkoe,
Shan State (North), on 20 April and arrested her together with 162 blocks of
heroin weighing 2.43 kilos.

Similarly, while
another combined team was running a check on cars at the junction of Nankaung
Village, Muse township in Shan State (North) on 25 April, a blue vehicle did not
stop for undergoing a search. The authorities were in pursuit of the car and
managed to seize it at the feeder road to Ward-2 motor road and Hokhay Village,
but those on board left the car and fled. The seizure on the car were 92
containers of ether weighing 2091.16 litres.

Action is being
taken against the drug traffickers under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Law by the police stations concerned.

Narcotic drugs, arms,
ammunition seized in Kongyan Township

Yangon,
4 May – A local military column, acting on a tip-off, on 8 April carried out a
raid on two huts (Estimate map reference K-834067) in Tonai-Mawhtaik region,
Kongyan Township, Shan State (North), where opium was refined.

The authorities
seized the huts together with four kilos of raw opium, nine litres of phenyl
acetic acid, 800 grams of opium, three assorted arms, four magazines, 40 rounds
of ammunition, four hand-grenades and five kinds of chemical precursor.

Action is being
taken in connection with the seizure of the durgs and paraphernalia under the
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

Heroin blocks
seized

YANGON,
3 May – A combined team comprising members of the local intelligence unit, Muse
Special Anti-drug Squad, local battalion and police force, acting on
information, searched the house of U Gam Maw at No 82, Ward-4 in Monkoe, on 21
April morning and seized 162 heroin blocks weighing 2.43 kilos hidden in the
kitchen of the house.

Action is being taken against Ma
Mar Kauk (a) Ma Nanja, 42, daughter of U Daizel and fugitive Gam Maw, 36, son of
U La Young, under section 15/19 (A)/ 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotrophic
Substances Law by Monkoe Police
Station.
