Heroin seized in
Phakant
YANGON,
28 Nov – A combined team made up of members of Tatmadaw, local intelligence unit
and Myanmar Police Force, acting on information, searched Saing Yi (a) Yi Tun at
Yin Khat Pan Beauty Salon in Ayethaya Ward, Phakant, on 22 October 2003.
At that time no
narcotic drug was seized, but upon further investigation, it was exposed that he
bought heroin from U Paung Shin, son of U Pha Paung, of No 51, Hnget Pyawtaw
Ward and entrusted the drug to Thaung Kyan, son of U Hla Kyaw, of Hmawsisa
Village, Lonkhin Village-tract, Phakant Township.
The authorities
arrested Thaung Kyan with 0.795 kilo of heroin and U Paung Shin with 0.034 kilo
of heroin.
The police
station concerned is taking action against the three under Narcotic Drugs and
Psychotropic Substances Law.
Heroin and raw
opium seized
YANGON,
28 Nov – A combined team comprising members of Local Intelligence Unit and Muse
Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on information, searched suspect La Khwan near
Pansaing-Monkoe road in Ward 7 in Monkoe and arrested him together with 10
blocks of heroine weighing 3.56 kilos on 2 September.
Likewise, a
combined team comprising members of Local Intelligence Unit and Bhamo Special
Anti-Drug Squad, acting on a tip-off, searched a Supercub Motor Bike driven by
Ma Nan Naw Toung on Bhamo-Moemauk road in Thonmilewutgon Village in Bhamo
Township and arrested her together with two packages of heroine weighing 3.1
kilos on 11 September. On further investigation, Than Wai was also arrested.
In connection
with the cases, action was being taken against the culprits under the Narcotic
Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the police stations concerned.
Heroin, stimulant
tablets seized in Monywa
YANGON,
6 Nov – A combined team comprising members of Monywa Special Anti-drug Squad and
Monywa Police Station, on 13 September, seized 143 grams of heroin packed in 10
soap boxes from Ma Lay Sabe. After follow-up investigation, the authorities
searched the house of Ma Myint Myint Tun and found Daw Htar Htar (a) Daw May
Htar Kyi and discovered 358 grams of heroin packed in 26 soap boxes and 4,972
stimulant tablets.
In connection
with the case, No 1 Police Station, Monywa, filed Ma Lay Sabe and Ma Myint Myint
Tun under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
Opium oil seized
in Nawnghkio
YANGON,
5 Nov – A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit, Lashio
Special Anti-drug squad and Nawnghkio Police Station, acting on a tip-off, on 28
September, seized 16 packets of opium oil weighing 16.2 kilos from Taraung.
In connection
with the case, Nawnghkio Police Station filed Taraung, son of U Kyn Kyauk Shin,
of Narkhan Village, Nantpaung Village-tract in Lashio under Section 15/19 (A) of
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
