437 drug-related cases exposed in May

      YANGON, 24 June Tatmadaw, Myanmar Police Force and Customs Department exposed altogether 437 drug-related cases in May 1999.
      They seized 98.766 kilos of opium in 26 cases, 11.6903 kilos of heroin in 154 cases, 31.6386 kilos of marijuana in 64 cases, 3.84 litres of :phensedyl in five cases, 1.34 kilos of opium oil in two cases, 1.4 kilos of low grade opium in 18 cases, 663,923 tablets of amphetamine in 41 cases, 392.29 kilos of amphidrin in 10 cases, 19.2 litres of cough syrup in three cases, 163.6 litres of acetic anhydride in two cases, 36.37 litres ether, and 7,387.35 litres of other chemicals, and exposed 95 cases for failure to register and 16 other cases.
      Action was taken against 512 men and 126 women in those 437 cases.
