Over 3.4m stimulant tablets seized at Lashio

ANGON, 13 May-Over 3.4 million amphetamine
tablets were seized at a check point near Lashio, Shan State (North), in a
case in which two men were also arrested.
      A combined group comprising members of
Defence Services Intelligence and Myanmar Police Force found the tablets in
a false bottom of the floor of a Condor light truck on 30 April while they
were searching cars passing through Yebu Check Point.
      A detailed search made by the
authorities had exposed the WY brand pink colour amphetamine tablets in
possession of the two traffickers -Mala (a) Zaw La, 28, son of U Zaw Tu, of
Ward 6, Pansai, who was at the wheel, and Win Hlaing (a) Aik San (a) Lauk San,
43, son of U Yan Swe Lin, of Ward 5 Lashio, who was a passenger.
      Amphetamine tablets were put in 1,705
canisters each containing 2,000 tablets.Action has been taken against the
two according to law.
