Stimulant tablets seized in Tangyan

angon, 4 Oct – A
combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and Lashio Special
Anti-drug Squad, acting on information, searched Ma Nan Ei on Weinlauk Road in
Tangyan on 11 September and found one gram of heroin and seven stimulant tablets
on her.
On further investigation, the combined team searched the
house of Ma Nan Kyein (a) Ma Aye Kyein of Group-4 of Ward-6, Tangyan, and seized
6,400 stimulant tablets on her and one point-22 gun, one 9-mm pistol, 3,730
stimulant tablets, 4.5 grams of heroin, 0.65 litres of opium liquid, 25 grams of
opium oil, 800 grams of opium residue and related materials to be used in
producing narcotic drugs from the bed room.
Action is being taken against Ma Nan Ei, 30, daughter of U
Lone Saing of Tangyan, and Ma Nan Kyein (a) Ma Aye Kyein, 38, daughter of U San
Swe, under Section 15/16(C)/21 and Ma Nan Kyein (a) Ma Aye Kyein and her husband
Yan Moe Yon, 57, son of U Yan Shaung Phan, who is at large, under Section
15/19(A)/21 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the Tangyan
police station.

243 drug cases exposed in August

angon, 3 Oct – The Tatmadaw, the Myanmar
Police Force and the Customs Department exposed 243 drug-related cases in August
2002.
Seizure made by them were 87.6967 kilos of opium in 37 cases,
16.5473 kilos of heroin in 86 cases, 13 kilos of morphine in one case, 8.7328
kilos of opium oil in five cases, 5.0614 kilos of low grade opium in 11 cases,
7.4375 kilos of marijuana in 14 cases, 49.639 liters of Phensedyl in three
cases, 450,552 stimulant tablets in 32 cases, 10.5 kilos of Ephedrine, four
kilos of stimulant powder, 8.608 kilos of Speciosa in three cases, one bottle of
diazepam injection in one case, 347,540 diazepam tablets in one case, 36 litres
of Acetic Anhydride, 100 litres of chemical liquid, 30 cases for failure to
register and 19 other cases. Seizure made by battalions and units were 48.5358
kilos of opium in three cases, 4.771 kilos of heroin in two cases, 13 kilos of
morphine in one case and 40 stimulant tablets in two cases.
Seizure made by MPF were 39.1609 kilos of opium in 34 cases,
11.7763 kilos of heroin in 84 cases, 8.7328 kilos of opium oil in five cases,
5.0614 kilos of low grade opium in 11 cases, 7.4375 kilos of marijuana in 14
cases, 49.639 litres of Phensedyl in three cases, 450,512 stimulant tablets in
30 cases, 10.5 kilos of Ephedrine, 4 kilos of stimulant powder, 8.608 kilos of
Speciosa in three cases, one bottle of diazepam injection in one case, 347,540
diazepam tablets in one case, 36 litres of Acetic Anhydride, 100 litres of
chemical liquid, 30 cases for failure to register and 19 other cases.
Action was taken against altogether 361 persons- 304 men and
57 women- in 243 cases in August 2002.
On 17 August, a combined drug abuse control team, acting on
information, searched Win Shin (a) Ar Shin at New Century Guest House in Ward-2,
Kutkai, and found 41,800 stimulant tablets bearing WY letters on him. Action is
being taken against him by Kutkai Police Station.
On 19 August, a combined drug abuse control team stopped a
white Hilux car with number plates Sa/6036, enroute from Hopong to Taunggyi,
driven by Pe Chay (a) Te Ta Khan at the check-point at the entrance to Taunggyi.
The authorities arrested Tin Thein (a) Chi Chein, who hire the car, together
with 20 packages of heroin weighing 6.6 kilos. Action is being taken against him
by Taunggyi No-1 Police Station.
On 26 August, a drug abuse control team searched the house of
Ma Shauk San of Nakha Village, Kutkai Township, and arrested her for possessing
16 packages of raw opium weighing 35 kilos. Action is being taken against her by
Kyukok Police Station.

Heroin seized in Monkoe
Yangon,
1 Oct – The combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and
Myanmar Police Force, acting on a tip-off, searched the house of U Aik Kham of
No 43, Ward 4, Monkoe, Shan State (North), on 12 September.
Then, the authorities arrested Sont Lint, the house owner’s
son-in-law and son of U Shauk Yon of Pauksan in the People’s Republic of China,
and his daughter Nan ma Win with nine soap cases of heroin weighing 0.153 kilo.
A similar team, acting on information, searched the house of
Lauk San of No 88, Ward 2, the same town, on 16 September and seized one kilo of
raw opium and 157 bars of heroin weighing 1.57 kilos.
The team, acting on information on 1 ‘I September,
also searched the passenger bus with number plates 1Ka/1807 on Kyugok-Monkoe
road in Namhu Village and nabbed Ma Mar Htan of Mongphan Village in Mongpaw
Village tract in Muse Township and Ma Khwan Shaung of first floor, building No
30/B, Yawmingyi Street, Dagon Township, Yangon, with 30 bars of heroin weighing
1.40 kilos. Action is being taken against them by the police stations concerned
under the Narcotic Drugs and Phychotropic Substances Law .
