17 Nov – A combined team comprising members of Local Intelligence Unit and Tamu

Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on information, searched suspect Htan Noe (a)

Lan Htan Khan nearby Nanpalaw creek, Tamu Township on 23 May, 2003 and seized

her together with five grams of heroin.

In connection with the case,

action was taken against Htan Noe (a) Lan Htan Khan, son of U Hsan Lyan Mon of

Myoma 11 Ward, Tamu, under Section 15/19 (A) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic

Substances Law by Tamu Police Station.

Tamu District Court on 29

September handed down on Htan Noe (a) Lan Htan Khan to five years’ imprisonment

under Section 15 and 13 years’ imprisonment under Section 19 (A). Similarly, the

combined team searched suspect Anyi (a) Lun Kho Kim on Nantphalon road, Tamu

Township on 10 July, 2003 and seized him with 0.8165 kilos of opium.

In connection with the case,

action was taken against Anyi (a) Lun Kho Kim, son of U Maung Shwe of

Nyaungnatgyi village, Tamu under Section 15/19 (A) of Narcotic Drugs and

Psychotropic Substances Law by Tamu Police Station.

September handed down on Anyi (a) Lun Kho Kim to five years’ imprisonment under

Section 15 and 13 years’ imprisonment under Section 19 (A).

15 Nov – Members of Pyu Township Myanmar Police Station, Bago Division, acting

on information, searched Shwe Myitta Passenger Bus with number plate (5/Kha

7016) at Pyu Highway Gate on 30 May, 2003 and seized 1.2247 kilos of marijuana

from passenger Ma Ei Ei Hlaing aboard the vehicle.

In connection with the case,

action was taken against Ma Ei Ei Hlaing, daughter of U Soe Tint of Natyaykan

Ward, Pyu Township and the owner of marijuana, Ma Hla Hla Win (a) Le Le,

daughter of U Soe Tint of the same ward and another culprit, Ma Thin Thin Khine,

daughter of U Akhon of No 3 Bahtoo Street, Theingonpaing Ward under Sections

15/19(a)/21 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by Pyu Police

Station.

Toungoo District Court on 8

October handed sentenced Ma Hal Hla Win to 15 years’ imprisonment under Section

19 (A) and Ma Thin Thin Khine to 5 years’ imprisonment under Section 15 and the

court released Ma Ei Ei Hlaing from custody under Section 258 (1).

9 Nov – A combined team comprising members of Local Intelligence Unit and Mogok

Police Station, acting on information, seized Aik Aye who was inside the hut

near 1.75 acres of opium plantation on Lwe Mon ridge, about 5 miles east of

Paloung Kyaungkhan village, Mogok Township on 9 March, 2003.

In connection with the case,

action was taken against Aik Aye, son of U Naw Win of Paloung Kyaungkhan

village, Mogok Township under Section 15/16(a) of Narcotic Drugs and

Psychotropic Substances Law by Mogok Police Station.

Mogok Township Court, on 1st

September, handed down on Aik Aye to five years’ imprisonment under Section 15

and seven years’ imprisonment under Section 16(a).

Similarly, a combined team

comprising members of Local Intelligence Unit, Monywa Special Anti-Drugs Squad

and Monywa Police Station, acting on information, searched Maung Ta Lun Aung who

was putting up in Hlaingpya Guest House, Yongyi Ward, Monywa Township on 24 May,

2003 and seized him with 11 packets of heroin weighing 0.2183 kilos inside the

plastic ice box.

In connection with the case,

action was taken against Maung Ta Lun Aung, son of U Sarti Yong of Zayhoung,

Haka under Section 15/19(a) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by

Monywa No 1 Police Station. Monywa District Court on 3 October, 2003, handed

down on Maung Ta Lun Aung to life sentence under Section 19(a).

7 Nov – A combined team comprising members of Local Intelligence Unit and

members of Tachilek Special Anti-Drug Squad, acting on information, searched

suspect Thai citizen Sophon at 5th Street, Hsan Sine (Kha) Ward in Tachilek on

27 March, 2003 and seized him with 950 stimulant tablets. According to further

investigation, Daw Nan Aung was also seized.

In connection with the case,

action was taken against Sophon, 45, son of U Naing Payshoon of Hosatyo Ward,

Palaing Young Township, Chasint Toung District, Thailand and Daw Nan Aung, 55,

daughter of U Aik Saw, Hsan Sine (Kha) Ward in Tachilek, under Section of

15/19(a)/21 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.

September, 2003 handed down on Sophon to five years’ imprisonment under Section

15 and 20 years’ imprisonment under Section 19 (a) and Daw Nan Aung to 20 years’

imprisonment under Section 19 (a).
