Drug
traffickers get jail terms
YANGON,
12 May —A combined team comprising members of local intelligence unit and
Tachilek Special Anti-drug squad, acting on a tip-off, on 13 October searched
the house of Aik Sam, son of U Aik Oun, in Panhat Village, Mongko village-tract,
Tachilek, and seized 300 stimulant tablets.
Tachilek District Court on 4
February sentenced five years imprisonment and 14 years imprisonment to drug
trafficker Aik Sam to serve separately under Section 15 and 19 (A) of Narcotic
Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
Similarly, the combined team on
12 November seized 1,400 stimulant tablets from Arhwar near Talot Market in
Tachilek. He confessed that he received the tablets from Aiksae (a) Arsein.
In connection with the case,
Tachilek Police Station charged Arhwar, son of U Yan Chun Kaing, and Arsein, son
of U Aik Lwun, under Section 15/19 (A) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances Law.
Tachilek District Court on 6
February sentenced Arhwar to five years’ imprisonment and 15 years’ imprisonment
to serve separately and Arsein to five years under Section 15 and 15 years under
Section 19(A) to serve separately.
